Description
Manor Farmhouse is a building that dates from the mid-to-late 17th century, although some features may be from a later period, particularly the porch. The house has a symmetrical front and is two and a half storeys tall, featuring two gabled bays. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar quoins and has weathered coping with ball-finials and moulded footstones at the gables. The roof is made of stone tiles and has central chimneys with three diagonal shafts, which are modern brick. There is a plinth and chamfered lintel strings on the ground and first floors. The windows include three-light ovolo mullion windows with relieving arches and two-light attic windows with drips and bullseyes above them.
A central projecting ashlar gabled tower porch, which appears to date from around 1720, is two storeys high and features a segmental pediment above an eared doorway, with a label that seems to return from the main building. The door is modern and styled in a Tudor manner. To the south, there is a two-storey angled bay with 1-3-1 lights and returned lintel strings. To the left, there is a lower gabled extension with a blocked attic and an additional chimney with diagonal shafts. A rear door is located to the left of the chimney axis, with a granary above it. Inside, there is an interesting Jacobean-type staircase with slat balusters, and on the landing, there is an unusual double stair arrangement.
