Description
The building at 10 High Street dates to around 1700, with alterations and a mid-18th century range to the rear. The front façade is two storeys high and rendered in stucco. It features a two-storey angled bay with four windows on the first floor and a shop window below. The front is topped by a moulded wooden eaves cornice, flanked by two fluted rainwater heads. A modern tile roof replaces the original stone slates and is hipped at the front.
To the rear, a two and a half storey wing from approximately 1765 includes a cellar. This wing is constructed of small coursed rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, and a band over the ground floor. The windows have slightly projecting keys and are segmental-headed on the ground floor. They are framed with flat architraves, with some retaining glazing bars. One ground floor window has been altered to serve as an overlight for an inserted porch. A central gabled dormer features a moulded cornice. A small, single-storey extension with a slate roof adjoins the south side.
The interior of the ground floor includes panelled rooms with recessed cupboards. The north room features a large bolection fireplace. The first-floor north room has an Adam-style fireplace. The staircase has a straight string and turned balusters.
