Description
This is an 18th-century chest tomb located about 21 metres west of the west porch of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Tormarton. It is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded base. The tomb has a cornice and lyre ends on the east and west sides, each adorned with a shaped shield set in a carved foliate surround. On the north side, there is a raised square panel with an egg and dart surround, complemented by carved festooned foliage on the sides. The south side displays a shaped cartouche with draped swags, festooned fruit and flowers on the sides, and twined ribbons. The inscriptions on the tomb have worn away over time.
