Description

The Escort Chest Tomb, located 3 yards southwest of the south door of St. Leonard's Church, is a Grade II listed structure. This chest tomb is dedicated to Edward Escort, who died around 1669. It is made of limestone ashlar and features sunken, illegible inscribed panels, along with a moulded plinth and cornice. The chest tombs are a notable collection of local and classical tomb designs and significantly enhance the setting of the church.
