Description
The Tily monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 29 metres south-west of the west porch of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Tormarton. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded base. It has lyre ends on the east and west sides, adorned with festooned flowers. There are raised circular panels on the north and south sides, each surrounded by carved flowers and foliage, along with narrow fielded panels on each side. The inscriptions on the tomb are worn, with the earliest decipherable date being 1768.
