Description
The Collection Pool in Barn Wood is a collecting pool dating from around 1750, once linked to Thomas Wright. It is made of limestone and is located in the landscaped grounds of Stoke Park Dower House. The pool is connected by a channel to a tunnel and was part of a designed walking route in the Park. The remains consist of three rubble walls, which were heavily overgrown at the time of the survey in July 1988, but they clearly outline a rectangular pool. The most substantial wall is on the east side, while the south wall has an opening with steps leading into the pool. The west side has mostly disappeared. Although the pool may seem insignificant on its own, it holds importance as part of a larger planned scheme.
