Description
Frome Lodge is a house, now converted into flats, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from rendered Pennant rubble with limestone dressings and features lateral stacks, although the roof is not visible. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in a late Georgian style. It stands three storeys tall, with a fourth storey in the left-hand bay, and has a four-window range. The main facade faces away from the road and includes a coped parapet around the top, a full-height canted bay on the left with steel casements dating from around 1920, and a central full-height bow with three 9/9-pane sash windows, each with bands at every floor level, along with a 20th-century door.
On the left return, there is a mid-19th century conservatory, which features a first-floor pointed stair light with an interlacing head and stained glass, as well as sashes with margin bars. The elevation facing the road is plain with varied window styles, including a keyed oculus. Inside, the rear hall has a flagged floor and a notable curved dogleg staircase with a plastered soffit, stick balusters, and a wreathed rail, along with panelled window reveals and shutters.
