Description
This is a fountain located about 16 metres south of The Old Post Office in Tormarton, dated 1855. It is made of sandstone and limestone and features a rectangular sandstone structure on a plinth. The fountain has a round-headed recessed panel with a keystone, a plain limestone frieze, and a lion mask with a spout. Above, there is a cornice and a round-headed block topped with an inscription plate and a ball finial. At the base in front, there is a limestone basin. The fountain was erected by Barbara Charlotte Anderson, the wife of the Rector of Tormarton, for the benefit of the village inhabitants, with water supplied from the Bidwell spring.
