Description
The Arnold monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 22 metres southwest of the west porch of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a shaped top with a moulded edge and a moulded base. It has lyre ends on the east and west sides, with quarter balusters. On the north side, there are paired inscription panels adorned with a slender festoon of leaves at the center and sides. The monument commemorates Martha Arnold, who died in 1808, along with other family members. This tomb is part of a group of three Arnold monuments, with the other two located about 1 and 3 metres due south.
