Description

This is an 18th-century chest tomb located about 19 metres west of the west porch of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Tormarton. It is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded edge. The tomb has carved corner pilasters and a cornice. On the west side, there is a blank shield surrounded by a scrolled design, while the north and south sides each have a raised oval panel with a moulded edge and scrolled foliate carving on the sides. The inscriptions on the tomb have worn away, and it was noted to be in poor condition during a survey in October 1984.
