Description

A pair of houses dating from the mid to late 18th century, situated on The Plain in Thornbury. The houses are rendered with slate roofs, and feature one old and one new brick stack between them. They are two storeys and an attic, with recent roof lights to number 10 and a hipped dormer to number 11. Each house has two windows and features paired 16-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors. Each house also includes a two-storey bay with angled corners, and a recessed entrance with a depressed arch. Number 11 has an eaves cornice with fretted moulding. A gabled wing at the rear has arch head windows, some of which are partially blocked. Inside number 10, a front ground floor room contains a shell recess and fretted moulding to the cornice on the fireplace wall and to the dado. There is panelling to dado height, along with fluted pilasters surrounding the door. On the first floor is a plain chamfered beam and a cupboard with 'L' hinges.
