Description
The Royal George Public House is a mid to late 19th century detached public house located on a corner site, with outbuildings extending to the rear along Gloucester Road. It features colour-washed render and a pantile roof, with later brick stacks at the ends. The main block stands three storeys tall. On the first floor, there are three sash windows with vertical glazing bars, while the second floor has three-pane glazing bar sashes. The ground floor includes two canted bays, each with moulded cornices and two plain glazed sashes. The lower sashes have colour loaded glazing, with 'Royal George' displayed on the front sashes. A flat Doric portico with a plain frieze is present, along with corner pilasters and a parapet. The second floor features a long rectangular panel with concave corners, inscribed with "The Royal George," situated between the windows. A hanging sign is mounted on a wrought iron bracket. At the rear, there are two-storey wings that include two glazing bar sash windows facing the yard, three casement windows (one from the 20th century), and a pitched pantile roof.
