Description

The Raggat chest tomb, located 11 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St Mary, is a chest tomb dating from the 18th century, although it commemorates Anne Raggat, who died in 1891. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features panelled sides with enriched corners and egg and dart ornamentation, along with a moulded entablature and cornice. This chest tomb is part of a notable collection of local and classical tomb forms and significantly enhances the setting of the church.
