Description
Little Brobury Farmhouse, now a house, has a 16th-century origin with later alterations. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble, with a rendered rear, and brick, with a pantiled and double Roman tiled roof. A stack is located to the right of where the original front door once stood. It is an L-shaped building, originally with a through passage. The farmhouse is two storeys high with four windows, and three small gables – two to the left and one to the right of the former door. The windows are 20th-century 2-light casements with leaded lights, one in each gable. A 20th-century window replaces the former front door, with all windows having timber lintels. A small stair light at the upper level also has a timber lintel. The northwest elevation features an external stack without a chimney. The southeast elevation has a 2-light attic window with a brick segmental head and surround, while the rear wing has a similar ground-floor window and two dormers. The rear also includes a 20th-century single-storey extension and 20th-century windows. Inside, there are plank and batten doors, deep chamfered beams, and a 20th-century winder stair where the original staircase was. The front right room contains a fireplace with a recess for an oven, a Tudor arched lintel to the stair, and a cambered lintel at the top of the stair.
