Description
The Elms is a farmhouse that features a significant 19th-century refronting of a 17th-century house, along with later alterations. It is constructed from rubble and rendered, topped with a double Roman tiled roof that has a gable stack at the north end and a ridge stack, as well as a shaped leaded roof over the porch. The building is 2½ storeys tall, with the north block set back and featuring two gables. The window arrangement is 1:2, with the north block having sashes in exposed boxes—one on the first floor and two on the ground floor. There is a 19th-century sash in the gable, which has bargeboards. The south block includes a porch with a shaped gable and cornice, with a 20th-century panelled and glass door to the left. There is a canted bay that extends through two storeys, featuring 16-pane sashes, along with a sash in an exposed box in the gable above and a 16-pane sash on both the ground and first floors to the right. The south elevation has a single-storey extension with a pitched roof and scattered windows. The rear of the building has three gables of varying sizes, including a lower rear wing with a double gable end and scattered windows, one of which is a first-floor right 2-light double chamfered mullion casement. The interior is not accessible.
