Description

This is an early 19th-century chest tomb located in the churchyard about 10 metres southwest of the tower of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Tormarton. It is made of sandstone and features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded base. The tomb has fluted quarter balusters and a fluted frieze adorned with ribbons and stylised leaves. There are paired shaped inscription panels on the north side, surrounded by carved leaves, with a central festoon and an urn featuring an eternal flame. The inscriptions on the tomb have worn away over time.
