Description
No 1 Horse Street is a building with origins likely dating back to the 15th century, which has been altered over the years. The elevation facing Horse Street is rendered and features a Double Roman tiled roof. The building has two storeys and includes one window with modern casements, along with a modern door located to the right. This side of the building was formerly a gable end.
On the Hatter's Lane elevation, the exterior is made of painted rubble and also has two storeys with a mix of modern windows.
Inside, the building has undergone significant alterations but still retains at least two raised cruck trusses and windbracing. It is believed that the roof structure extends into No 2 Hatter's Lane. This building is included in the listing primarily for its interior features.
