Description

Castle Farmhouse, including the rear service wing and rear garden walls, as well as gates and railings, is a farmhouse dating from around 1800, with extensions added around 1850. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble and features a slate and 20th-century tiled roof that is hidden behind an embattled parapet, along with a moulded cornice. The building is designed in a castellated Gothic style and has an asymmetrical and irregular elevation of two storeys, with an advanced section to the right, a square tower at the right end, and a large octagonal tower at the rear.

The facade has three bays with 2-light casement windows that have 4-centred and segmental heads in plain stone surrounds, all under drip moulds. The tower includes pointed windows. The central entrance is a plank door set in a pointed stone surround, also under a drip mould. On the rear elevation, there is a plank door located in a gabled porch adorned with ball finials. The rear wing features a mansard roof and a projecting central two-storey porch, which was formerly used as a dairy, kitchen, cheese loft, and granary. At the west end of the rear wing, low rubble quadrant walls with cast iron gates and railings enclose the rear garden.
