Description

Winterbourne House is an early 18th century house, significantly extended in the 19th century, and now used as a school. It is built of rendered and freestone, with slate roofs. The garden front is two storeys high with seven windows, predominantly glazing bar sash windows with pelmets. There are two French doors, a string course, a cornice, and a parapet topped with urns. A single-storey extension from the late 20th century has been added to the garden front, featuring statues in niches.

The entrance front is also two storeys and six windows wide, again with mainly glazing bar sash windows, plus two in a later extension. A central porch is present, and above it are two windows with Gothic tracery. The front is finished with a cornice and parapet, flanked by two pilaster strips that rise to a higher cornice and parapet.

The interior includes a panelled garden room and an unusually shaped hall, reflecting extensive rebuilding. The staircase features a barley sugar balustrade.
