Description
Crossley House is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with early 19th-century alterations. It features roughcast walls and freestone dressings, with a roof that is not visible. The building has three storeys and five windows, along with two additional windows in a single-storey wing on the left (west side). The ground and first floors have 16-pane glazing bar sash windows, while the second floor has 8-pane sashes, except for the central area where there is a six-panel door beneath a fanlight, all set within a Tuscan portico that has a heavy cornice. Above the door, there is a round-headed glazing bar sash with gothick tracery, and above that, a similar six-pane window. The house is topped with a cornice and a plain coped parapet, which features end urns. The plain parapetted wing includes two large glazing bar sashes. The rear elevation displays quoins, a large stair wing, and a 19th-century multi-faceted bay.
