Description
Perry's Almshouses are a pair of almshouses built in 1851. They are constructed from rubble brought to courses with freestone dressings and feature fish scale slate roofs topped with ornate clay ridge tiles. The building is arranged in a U shape and consists of 10 units over two storeys, with a total of 8 windows, plus one window in each of the projecting end wings.
On the ground floor, there are three-light cusped windows set under labels between five gabled porches. These porches have moulded pointed arches with drip moulds, carved stops, and decorative plaques. The wings have canted pitched roof bays. The first-floor windows rise as eaves dormer gables, and in the gables of the wings, there are two-light windows below trefoils. Between the wings, scrolls display the inscriptions "Built and endowed by Mrs. Mary Anne Jones" and "Anno Domini MDCCCLI".
