Description

Webb's Heath Farmhouse, along with a two-storey detached outhouse wing to the south-east, likely has origins in the 16th century, but is mostly of the 17th century, with later alterations and a picturesque style. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble with a pantile roof. It features tall ashlar stacks with moulded caps at the gable apexes. The main elevation, facing south-east, has a plain gable with a stack to the left and a projecting timber-framed gable with an oriel window on the first floor to the right. The oriel window has eight lights, divided into two lights each side, with moulded wooden mullions, single transoms, and leaded diamond panes. Plastered spaces are between the lights, and a moulded lower horizontal member extends leftwards to form a hood over the door, which was formerly a porch gable. It has a pulvinated frieze with moulded egg-and-dart mouldings and end brackets. There is a moulded cornice to the window head, carved bargeboards, a wooden finial, and a pendant to the gable. A two-light wooden casement is set into the gable face. Other windows are modern three-light wooden casements, one each side of the oriel and one on the ground floor to the right. A square-headed door opening is to the left of centre, with an ogee-stopped moulded wooden frame and a stone porch. The left hand return elevation has two gables, the rear elevation has two gables, and the right hand end elevation has one gable, all with ashlar stacks. The north-west gable includes a series of oak ovolo mullion windows. The interior has been remodelled. The two-storey outhouse wing to the south-east was formerly attached.
