Description

The Dramway Tunnel under Carsons Road is a Grade II listed structure that dates back to 1831. It was built for the former Avon and Gloucestershire Tramway, commonly known as The Dramway. The tunnel features battered abutment walls made of pennant rubble, which are curved in plan. It has lias string and quoins that complement the batter, along with an elliptical arch that includes a plain keystone. This tunnel is one of several structures linked to a horse-drawn dramway that served the local coal pits.
