Description
Lodge Farmhouse dates to the late 17th or early 18th century. It is constructed of rubble with pantile roofs and features four diagonally-placed ashlar chimney stacks along the ridge. The two-storey farmhouse has four windows, each with two-light casements featuring moulded stone mullions and transoms, and drip moulds over the ground floor openings. The central doorway is framed by an architrave with a pulvinated frieze, topped by a flat cornice (now broken). Above the door is a stone inscription reading "L.I. 1791”. A gabled wing extends to the rear, with small gables on each inner elevation and a variety of windows, including several two-light leaded casements with moulded wooden mullions, and a single three-light mullion and transom window on the ground floor.
Inside, the lobby entrance retains original stop-chamfered door surrounds. The central room contains a large fireplace. The kitchen, located in the rear wing, has a door surround with a stopped ovolo design. On the first floor, a main room to the west has a cupboard to the left of the fireplace, which retains an ornamented relief frieze. Several original three-plank doors remain throughout the house.
