Description
This icehouse, built in the 18th century, is located approximately 16 meters north of the tower at Siston Tower Road. Constructed from limestone blocks, with some copper slag and brick, it features a circular structure topped with a domed roof that is exposed above ground level. The remains of walls flank a leading/unleading chute, with a larger chute on one side. This icehouse had a capacity of approximately 250 tons, making it one of the largest examples in England. It was likely built in connection with the grottos and other features in the grounds of Warmley House, which was owned in the mid to late 18th century by William Champion, a brass founder.
