Description
The Summer House near Grimsbury School is a mid to late 18th century building, believed to have been constructed by William Champion, a brass founder from Warmley House. This structure takes the form of a roughly square, two-storey crenellated tower made of black slag material, with freestone window dressings, and is situated on top of an archway that spans Siston Brook. The entrance elevation faces east and features a door opening that is accessed by a modern flight of steps. The south front has two windows on each floor, which are glazing bar sashes with plain stone architraves and triple keys, similar to the door opening. The north front is painted and has a central break with an arched and keyed window, along with a keyed oculus above and similar circular windows on each side. Although the original house has been recently enlarged and altered with modern extensions to the east and west, these do not detract from its character.
