Description
The Werret chest tomb, located 7.5 metres north of the northeast corner of the War Memorial Lych Gate in Yate, is a Grade II listed structure. This chest tomb commemorates Richard Werret, who died in 1793, as well as Albert John Werret, who died in 1954, and Mary Ann Tratman, who died in 1968. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a central inscribed panel surrounded by an enriched C-scroll design, oval end panels, corner balusters, and a moulded plinth and cornice. The chest tombs represent a notable collection of local and classical tomb forms and significantly enhance the setting of the church.
