Description
The Corbett chest tomb, located 11 metres south of the southeast corner of the south transept of the Church of St Mary, is a Grade II listed structure. It commemorates Jonathan Corbett, who died in 1811, and Henrietta, who died in 1769. The tomb is made of limestone ashlar and features reeded corner pilasters, a central inscribed oval panel, enriched spandrels, an entablature, and a moulded cornice. This chest tomb is part of a notable collection of local and classical tomb forms and significantly enhances the church's setting.
