Description

This is a chest tomb located 11 metres north of the north-west corner of the War Memorial Lych Gate in Yate. It was originally listed as the Cam Chest Tomb, situated 20 yards southeast of the south porch of St Mary's Church. The tomb commemorates Thomas Cam, who died in 1799, and is made of sandstone ashlar. It features central inscribed panels, corner balusters, and a moulded plinth and cornice. The chest tombs are a notable collection of local and classical tomb designs and significantly enhance the setting of the church.
