Description
The Corbett chest tomb, located 10 metres south of the southeast corner of the south transept of the Church of St Mary, is a Grade II listed structure. It commemorates Mary Corbett, who died in 1749. The tomb is made of limestone ashlar and features a provincial baroque style, characterized by inscribed circular and oval panels, enriched pilasters, a pulvinated frieze, and a moulded cornice. This chest tomb is part of a notable collection of local and classical tomb forms and significantly enhances the setting of the church.
