Description
The Statue of Neptune, erected between 1700 and 1712, is carved from limestone by John Harvey of Bath. It features a square triple plinth with chamfered edges, a pedestal, and a block that supports a fluted shell. The draped statue of Neptune stands on two aquatic creatures. This statue has significant landscape value and was originally located at the head of a cascade of 224 steps, as depicted in Kip's view of Dyrham and the water garden from 1712.
