Description
The Gardenhouse at Saltram House is a summerhouse dating from around 1772, possibly designed by Stockman, who also created the Orangery. It features a roughcast render with a plinth, an impost string, and an embattled parapet above the string, topped with a flat roof. The structure has a fairly small octagonal plan and is a single storey over a basement. Alternate sides of the building are blind, while the others have ogee-arched openings. The windows and doorway include leaded glazing with 2-light and transomed designs, and the doorway has a pair of 3-panel doors. The basement contains windows and a doorway from the 16th or 17th century, which likely originated from the main house. The interior has not been inspected.
