Description
The railings and gates located east and south-east of Saltram House are likely from the early 19th century, incorporating fragments from the 17th century. These wrought-iron railings sit atop a granite plinth made from re-used 17th-century chamfered fragments of mullioned windows, which became available after the house was remodeled in the 18th century. The railings and gates feature simple turned arrow-head finials. The pair of gates is aligned with the center of the east elevation of the house.
