Description
The walls and gate piers located east of the Coach House at Saltram House date from the 18th century. They are constructed from rubble, incorporating some reused dressed stone fragments from the 17th century within the gate piers. The walls are semicircular in shape, while the gate piers are square in plan. This structure, along with the Coach House, encloses a cobbled yard that provides access to a pond, which was historically used for washing the wheels of horse-drawn vehicles on the Saltram Estate. This listing is included for its group value.
