SX55NW MERAFIELD ROAD 740-1/6/541 (West side (off)) 29/03/60 Plympton, Saltram Park Chapel at Saltram House

Barn, later converted to chapel. Possibly late medieval and converted 1743 on rainwater head, the conversion attributed to Stockman who designed the Orangery (qv) and possibly the garden house. Local rubble, mostly rendered; dry slate hipped roof behind embattled parapet. Gothic style. Rectangular plan. Single storey; symmetrical 5-bay buttressed front with pointed-arched openings. Gothic style windows with Y tracery. Central doorway with panelled doors and fanlight in wall above. Similar windows at rear. INTERIOR: not inspected but said to be very simple.
