Description

This is a planned terrace of twelve houses located on the north side of Duke Street, in Devonport, Plymouth. The houses date from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of stucco, with probable slate or asbestos roofs concealed behind a stuccoed parapet, and have brick end stacks. The houses are of a double-depth plan.

The terrace is three storeys high and has a regular twelve-window range, with a plinth, end pilasters, and moulded hoods over the first-floor windows. Numbers 4 and 6 retain their original twelve-pane hornless sash windows; the remaining windows were replaced in the late 20th century. The ground-floor openings are currently boarded up. Shopfronts have been inserted into numbers 6 to 14. The original moulded entablature is preserved, with consoles at numbers 14 and 16.

The interiors have not been inspected, but are likely to contain features of historical interest.

The terrace forms part of a notable group of buildings in the centre of Devonport.
