Description

Villa in a planned group of villas, dating from the 1820s and 1830s. The villa is constructed of incised stucco, with a dry slate hipped mansard roof concealed behind a parapet. The parapet features a moulded entablature and a balustraded central section, with panelled stuccoed end stacks and moulded cornices. The building also has attic windows. It follows a double-depth plan, likely with three rooms at the front, and an entrance porch leading to an axial entrance hall on the left.

The exterior is of two storeys plus an attic, with a symmetrical three-bay front. The central bay projects slightly, and a single-storey porch is set back on the left. Windows are modern replacements within the original openings; the central bay has tripartite windows with consoles and moulded hoods, and the ground-floor windows are taller. The porch features a parapet with a moulded cornice and a doorway with consoles and a moulded hood, also with a modern door.

The interior was not inspected but is noted to retain original plasterwork and joinery. The villa was included as part of a significant planned group of terraces and villas by Foulston and his pupil Wightwick on the Hoe, representing an early 19th-century town planning scheme.
