Description
No. 38 Southside Street is a shop premises, likely built in the late 19th century, with a shopfront that was remodeled in the late 19th century as well. The building features stucco on studwork and has a steep grouted slate roof with a moulded eaves cornice. There is a brick end stack on the right, which is shared with No. 39, and a cast-iron ogee gutter. The building has a deep plan and is low with three storeys, presenting a one-window range that includes tripartite windows with two panes per light. The ground floor features a pilastered shopfront with a moulded entablature and consoles supporting the fascia. Above the plate glass window, there are squat transom lights, and to the left, there is a doorway with a glazed door. The interior has not been inspected.
