Description

The Dolphin Hotel is an early 19th-century public house, with possible earlier core elements. The front is stuccoed, with a slate mansard roof hidden behind a tall parapet featuring a moulded cornice. There are two dormers, and the building is finished with rendered end stacks. The plan is deep and irregular.

The building is three storeys high with an attic, and has a two-window front. It features horned sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has a segmental arch over a late 19th-century stepped shopfront, with a central two-light window incorporating a twist mullion. Flanking the window are doorways with panelled doors and plaster reliefs of dolphins above.

The interior has not been inspected. The building is reputedly associated with the Tolpuddle Martyrs.
