Description
Wixenford Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with an extension added in the 18th century. It is built of local rubble, with the front rendered, and features steep slate roofs. The taller main roof has two gabled dormers over the eaves, flanking a raking dormer. There are large 17th-century rubble end stacks, a rendered brick stack on the far right, and a 17th-century rendered stack with a ramped top at the rear gable of the rear wing. The original layout included a two-room through-passage plan along with a rear parlour or service wing, which was extended on the right in the 18th century. The building has two storeys plus an attic that was converted from the original roof space, and it has an irregular four-window range. The 20th-century windows have glazing bars, and there is a large gabled porch centrally located on the original part of the house. The interior features some chamfered ceiling beams.
