Description
The Furneaux tomb, located immediately north of the Church of St Andrew, is a large tomb dating from the early to mid-19th century, dedicated to Captain Tobias Furneaux. It features a rubble side wall topped with dressed stone coping, which retains one side of a rectangular stone-paved area. The tomb has high rubble entrance walls on two sides, with wrought-iron railings on the other two sides. The railings have turned stanchions and finials. Captain Furneaux is noted for having sailed with Captain Cook on the first global navigation.
