Description
The stables and archway at Aldwick Court date from the late 18th century. They are built of coursed lias with ochre-washed roughcast, featuring a dressed stone plinth, openings, cornice, and parapet coping. The stables have a double Roman tile roof. The stables consist of a single-storey range with a pedimented western section that has five bays, round-arched doorways, oeil de boeuf windows with glazing, a central segmental-headed carriage entrance, and a round-headed loft doorway above, all with plank doors. The connecting range to the east has similar doorways and oeil de boeuf windows. The archway, which connects to the north-west corner of Aldwick Court, features a segmental-headed arch and a round-arched recess that contains several architectural fragments, including a dated cartouche.
