Description
Aldwick Court is a detached house dated 1791, with additions made in 1921. The building features ashlar stonework at the front and roughcast at the rear, topped with slate roofs. The south-west front has two storeys and attics, consisting of six bays, with the last two bays on the right added in 1921, along with a 20th-century bow window. All windows are 12-pane sashes. The central doorcase from 1921 has blocked rusticated columns and a segmental broken pediment, leading to an early 19th-century studded plank door with a three-light rectangular fanlight above. The house has a moulded cornice, a blocking course, and two hipped dormers in the hipped roof, along with side ashlar stacks. A balustraded terrace with five steps leads down to a lower level. Inside, there is a staircase featuring a wreathed mahogany handrail, plain balusters, and carved tread ends. The house was built by Samuel Baker.
