Description

The bridge over the River Yeo at Congresbury dates from around 1800 and is constructed from dressed Pennant stone with rubble infill. It features a single span arch that is approximately 3 meters wide and has a span of about 4 meters, made up of a single row of voussoirs on each side. The bridge lacks a parapet, and it is unclear if one ever existed or if it has been lost to the river. On the east side, there is a slightly projecting keystone. Historically, this bridge is believed to pre-date a map from 1835 and is located on a drover's road. It is notable for its unmetalled surface and the presence of an associated track that has also avoided strengthening or upgrading.
