Description

Two small, two-storey houses dating from the 18th to early 19th century are set back from the street, with a wide 19th-century shop front to the right. The house to the left (number 23A) has walls of rubble construction, a brick parapet, and a slate roof. It contains two windows with painted surrounds and sash windows with glazing bars. A round-headed doorway features a fanlight above an eight-panel door. Number 23 has a stucco front with end pilasters and a parapet. A Venetian window is located on the first floor. The later double shop front includes an overall fascia with paired end brackets, quoin pilasters, and dentils. The glazing is divided by round-headed arches supported on slender colonnettes.
