Description
The Clock Tower is a late 19th century to early 20th century square tower located on an island site. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. The tower features projecting eaves and a tiled pyramidal roof that transitions to an octagonal shape, topped with a weathervane. Stone bands with colored and patterned tiles divide the tower into three storeys, with the upper band also featuring colored detached shafts. Each side of the upper storey has a round clock face. The ground floor includes a pointed doorway that rises through the plinth, as well as an arched recess designed for a fountain.
The Clock Tower is part of a group that includes The Clock Tower Public House, Nos 5, 10 and 12, The Triangle, and Nos 5 to 12 Chapel Hill. All of these buildings are of local interest, with the exception of The Clock Tower itself.
