Description

Eastington Farm House, which includes the front boundary walls, is a farmhouse with origins in the 17th century, and it was enlarged in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building features rubble stone walls, stone slate roofs, and stone stacks with moulded caps, and has an irregular T-shaped plan. The main front range has a 19th-century lean-to addition on the right. In front of this is a single-storey block that likely served as a dairy or bakehouse and appears to be contemporary with the house. To the left is a two-storey gabled wing from the 18th century. The rear wing was extended in the 18th century at a lower level, with a further 18th-century lean-to extension beyond this. The main house has two storeys and attics.

On the main front elevation, the original four-centred arched doorway is now hidden by a later extension. To the right of this doorway is a ledged door and another door in an altered mullioned window opening. The ground floor features one round-headed window and one casement window with glazing bars. The first floor has two round-headed windows, one part-blocked window with lead lights, and one loft door. The projecting wing at the right end has one round-arched window on the ground floor. Inside, there are several four-centred arched doorways, and the ground floor rooms have some chamfered ceiling beams. There are three large open fireplaces, one of which is in the dairy and features a cambered lintel. In front of the main range is a dry stone boundary wall. This property is managed by the National Trust and is listed as a monument in the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England.
