Description
Layton House is a stone ashlar house, likely dating back to 1615, situated in its own grounds. The south-east corner probably originates from the late 17th century, retaining fragments of door and window jambs from that period. A three-centred arch is visible in the doorway leading to the semi-basement, and a cambered oak lintel is present at the basement fireplace. The north front is probably from the early to mid-19th century. The left-hand section is of painted stone rubble, while the right-hand section is of painted brick. The right-hand section features window openings, with windows having four panes per reveal. A five-panelled door with a fanlight is located on the left-hand side. A porch with a slate gabled roof is also present.
