Description
Nos 14 and 15 on Gold Hill are 17th-century buildings that were once part of an inn. No 14 has two bays, while No 15 has one bay and a door. The front of No 14 is made of stone rubble and is colourwashed. Due to the slope of the ground, part of No 14 is three stories high. It features a terraced entrance with railings and a thatched roof, with the eaves line rising over No 14 to create a half-dormer, although the window is now blocked. The building has various casement windows, some of which are very small and have lead glazing. The lower gable-end has been recently built up with red brick. Inside No 14, there are some stop-chamfered beams in the upper floor rooms, a large fireplace with a slightly four-centred head in the ground floor room, and an embrasure in the staircase wall between the ground floor and cellar. Nos 14 and 15, along with Nos 7 to 17, form a group with the Park Wall and stone setts and gutter.
