Description
The Laurels is a late 18th century to early 19th century building located at No. 19 Layton Lane, facing southeast onto a garden. It has a five-storey, four-bay front, with the uppermost storey likely added later. Originally featuring a thatched roof, it is now covered with slate. The building has sash windows without glazing bars, except for a narrow window in the second bay from the left. In the attic storey, there are small two-light casement windows. The entrance from the street is through a round-headed archway in a single-storey extension to the west, leading to two four-panelled doors, one of which has a fanlight. On the street front, which is constructed of stone rubble, there is one window with intact glazing bars. An old photograph in the owner's possession shows the house with its original thatched roof.
